My thoughts for today

I found this interesting daybook questions that was created by a woman on the internet. She has a ton of rules you are supposed to follow when using her questions, but I have no idea how to paste picture links, etc, so hopefully, she won't find out I'm breaking her rules. Here's her blog at least where you can read all the rules. http://thesimplewoman.blogspot.com/

FOR TODAY

Outside My Window...a giant 50+ year old maple tree that shades my house all day long.

I am thinking...how long will Ethan's nap last.

I am thankful for...strawberries.

From the kitchen...to grill or not to grill tonight's dinner.

I am wearing...tan capris and a blue sleeveless shirt and LOTS of itchy bug bites.

I am creating...an adventurous little boy.

I am going...to buy water proof sandals today to keep up with my adventurous boy!

I am reading...an Elizabeth George novel.

I am hoping...that Josh makes ice cream tonight.

I am hearing...the twittering of birds.

Around the house...clutter. I look around each morning and think how did this happen.

One of my favorite things...the ocean.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: There is an animal show at the library tomorrow afternoon that I plan on taking Ethan to. Maybe strawberry picking. Definitely sandal shopping.

Here is picture thought I am sharing

Water themed weekend

This weekend we decided to relax and put the chores on the back burner. On Saturday we went to the beach. Josh absolutely hates the beach, but he humored me and agreed to spend a couple of hours there. The beach is about a mile from our house, free, and it has a gradual slope down to the water. Unfortunately, there was a fair amount of glass, but we all came home cut free. Ethan enjoyed himself and was super cute in his swimsuit and floppy hat.

On Sunday we decided to go to the aquarium to beat the heat. We got there right when it opened so the crowds weren't too bad. Ethan pointed at everything and seemed really interested. He called the seals Aida. Poor kitty, all portly furry whiskered creatures are Aidas in Ethan's mind. We ate lunch and came home. Later in the afternoon we set up the sprinkler and had a good time getting soaked.

Lots of water themed activities. We even managed to get some chores done. Josh mowed the front lawn, I planted some plants, and we went grocery shopping.

Time

Where does the time go on the weekends? It is just ridiculous. This past weekend went by in a blur and I'm not even sure what we have to show for it. Let's see. Dinner out, lawn mowing, plant sale, planting, watering, lumber buying, lumber sawing and staining, laundry (5 loads washed, 4 folded), 2 episodes of Lost, 1 starbucks run, 1 hour with Ethan's cousins, lots of playing outside, 1 ice pack applied to baby toe, 2 broken pots, 1 bathroom washed, banana muffins baked and devoured, grocery shopping, 1 frame and matting picked out and ordered, and 1.5 hours of napping baby. I guess we did a lot but it doesn't feel that way. Probably because I really wanted to go for a hike.

Too many chores make for grumpy parents and baby. We need to schedule in some fun, non chore time like hiking or going to the zoo.

Every day in life is a balancing act. Just when I think I've got it all figured out a new ball is thrown into the mix. How do you make having a child and owning a home and all their attached responsibilities work in a lifestyle that likes to go hiking and travel? There just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to do everything that I want to do and the boring things that need to be done.

Sometimes I think if only I was a little more organized it would all fall into place. Who knows what the answer is, but I'll keep trying to keep all the balls in the air.
